Stage 2

welcome!

Amara & Friends aligns closely with the development framework as identified for the NSW Department of Education, and has worked closely with educators, parents and guardians to ensure that the world correlates with the defined educational outcomes of children in stage 2.

In stage 2, students are encouraged to express clearly and logically about ideas and information found in text, and accurately convey such information to the classroom, school and in different social situations. Independent reading becomes a large focus of this age-group as individual interests guide students into interpreting and analysing texts that are interesting to the student. In this complexity, students are also taught to analyse point-of-view and explain the way in which POV is communicated by the author in the text, as well as the illustration.

Persuasive text is a core consideration for this age-range alongside informative and imaginative in terms of topic, purpose, audience and language. Students begin to use a range of simple and complex language devices to communicate ideas as well as develop an understanding of the digital publishing abilities and opportunities.

The team of Amara & Friends acknowledges the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation upon whose ancestral lands the creation, knowledge sharing and idea of Amara & Friends stems. We acknowledge and pay respects to Elders, past and present, acknowledging them as the traditional custodians of the land. We further pay respects to the traditional custodians of the ancestral lands you may be reading our work from.
